Prominent local Conservative Lisa Raitt endorses Kerry Colborne
Oakville campaign gains momentum:
Lisa Raitt, one of the region’s most prominent Conservatives, has thrown her support behind Oakville West Conservative Party federal nomination contestant Kerry Colborne. Colborne is running to become the Conservative Party candidate who will take on the Liberal incumbent in the next federal election. The date of the nomination vote is yet to be determined.
“Ottawa needs a fresh voice — I know from our collaboration while I was an MP and cabinet minister, and Kerry was leading the Oakville Chamber of Commerce that she possesses the right personality and experience. She has a deep understanding of government and the creation of policy. She will serve Oakville well,” wrote Raitt.
Lisa Raitt PC had a long and distinguished career as a parliamentarian. She served as the Deputy Leader of the Opposition from 2017 to 2019. Ms. Raitt held various senior cabinet posts and was the Member of Parliament for the Ontario riding of Halton from 2008 to 2015. She represented the riding of Milton from 2015 to 2019. She is now employed in the private sector.
“Like so many other Canadians, I have long admired the integrity, honesty, and work ethic of Lisa Raitt. She has distinguished herself as a parliamentarian, and as a citizen. That is why I am so deeply honoured and humbled to have received her support in the nomination contest to become the Conservative candidate in Oakville,” Colborne responded.
Kerry Colborne is a successful Oakville businesswoman with 15 years’ experience as a senior executive, working internationally for Fortune 100 companies. For the past 10 years she has owned and successfully operated her own small business in Oakville and served two terms as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Oakville Chamber of Commerce. She is committed to local arts and non-profit organizations.
“Our campaign team is enthused and delighted to receive the support of Lisa Raitt who continues to be one of the most established Conservative Party voices in Ontario,” added Campaign Chair John Sawyer. “ Kerry is attracting new people to the Party.”
On her website, Colborne has signed up scores of supporters to the Conservative Party which allows them to vote for her when the nomination contest is officially announced. It is the Party’s Oakville West Electoral District Association, in consultation with Conservative Party of Canada headquarters that will declare the date. Many anticipate a federal election will be called by next fall.
“In these challenging times, it’s more important than ever to have a strong voice for Oakville in Ottawa.”
Before turning Liberal in 2011, Oakville was held by the Conservative Party’s Terence Young, 2008-2015. Along with Colborne, there are at least 3 other contestants for nomination for the Conservative nomination. It’s important for every conservative voice to be heard this election – there is no such thing as a safe seat in Oakville West.
